यातु वानरवाहिन्या वानरः प्लवतां पतिः। पालयन्दक्षिणं पार्श्वमृषभो वानरर्षभः॥ गन्धहस्तीव दुर्धर्षस्तरस्वी गन्धमादनः। यातु वानरवाहिन्याः सव्यं पार्श्वमधिष्ठितः॥
yātu vānaravāhinyā vānaraḥ plavatāṃ patiḥ| pālayandakṣiṇaṃ pārśvamṛṣabho vānararṣabhaḥ|| gandhahastīva durdharṣastarasvī gandhamādanaḥ| yātu vānaravāhinyāḥ savyaṃ pārśvamadhiṣṭhitaḥ||
English Meaning
And let that foremost of monkeys, Rşabha, go, protecting the right wing (of the army); and let Gandha, irresistible like an elephant with the fragrant temporal juice trickling down, and the vehement Gandhamādana, go,* protecting the left wing (of the monkey-army). *The verb is singular, instead of dual, as also the qualifying epithet, Pārsamadishthita.
