na cātipraṇayaḥ kāryaḥ kartavyo'praṇayaśca te| ubhayaṃ hi mahādoṣaṃ tasmādantaradṛgbhava||

Do you not cultivate too much of friendship nor be wanting in it-for both of these extremes are sources of disasters. Do you therefore follow the golden mean.
