Gita Guidance For

Anxious

चिंतित

The Bhagavad Gita speaks to every state of the heart. Sit with these verses — read slowly, and let them meet you where you are.

Your part is the effort itself — this verse gently lifts the weight of outcomes you were never meant to carry.

कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन। मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि।।2.47।।

karmaṇy-evādhikāras te mā phaleṣhu kadāchana mā karma-phala-hetur bhūr mā te saṅgo ’stvakarmaṇi

Thy right is to work only; but never to the fruits thereof. Be thou not the producer of the fruits of (thy) actions; neither let thy attachment be towards inaction.

Swami Swarupananda

Bhagavad Gita 2.47

Steadiness, Krishna says, is doing your best and staying even whether things go well or badly — a calm you can practice, not force.

योगस्थः कुरु कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा धनञ्जय। सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः समो भूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्यते।।2.48।।

yoga-sthaḥ kuru karmāṇi saṅgaṁ tyaktvā dhanañjaya siddhy-asiddhyoḥ samo bhūtvā samatvaṁ yoga uchyate

Being steadfast in Yoga, Dhananjaya, perform actions, abandoning attachment, remaining unconcerned as regards success and failure. This evenness of mind (in regard to success and failure) is known as Yoga.

Swami Swarupananda

Bhagavad Gita 2.48

When the worrying mind has run out of plans, this verse offers a resting place: hand the whole tangle over and let yourself be held.

सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज।अहं त्वा सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुचः।।18.66।।

sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śharaṇaṁ vraja ahaṁ tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣhayiṣhyāmi mā śhuchaḥ

Relinquishing all Dharmas take refuge in Me alone; I will liberate thee from all sins; grieve not.

Swami Swarupananda

Bhagavad Gita 18.66

For hearts that keep watch through the night, Krishna promises to keep watch too — carrying what you lack and guarding what you have.

अनन्याश्चिन्तयन्तो मां ये जनाः पर्युपासते। तेषां नित्याभियुक्तानां योगक्षेमं वहाम्यहम्।।9.22।।

ananyāśh chintayanto māṁ ye janāḥ paryupāsate teṣhāṁ nityābhiyuktānāṁ yoga-kṣhemaṁ vahāmyaham

Persons who, meditating on Me as non-separate, worship Me in all beings, to them thus ever jealously engaged, I carry what they lack and preserve what they already have.

Swami Swarupananda

Bhagavad Gita 9.22
